Philips Hue – Smart lighting for your home

Philips Hue is a smart lighting system where bulbs, luminaires, and controllers work together. Lights can be controlled by phone, switch, motion sensor, or automation.

The Hue system is suitable for controlling individual lamps as well as lighting for the entire home. Lights can be turned on, off, and dimmed with the app, and many models also allow adjusting the color temperature or using colored lights.

How Philips Hue works

The core of the Hue system is the Hue Bridge, which connects lamps and other devices to the same network. The Bridge uses a Zigbee connection, designed for smart home devices.

The Bridge can be connected to, for example: smart bulbs, luminaires, motion sensors, wireless switches, and smart plugs.

Once the devices are connected to the system, lighting can be controlled using the Philips Hue app, timers, or through smart home systems.

Automation and smart home

The Hue system also enables lighting automation. For example, in the app, you can set up:

• timed lighting

• different lighting scenes according to the time of day

• automatic lights turning on based on motion

Hue also works with many smart home systems, such as Apple HomeKit, Google Assistant, and Amazon Alexa.
