  Mirror: 80cm round wall mirror with round mounting frame . The round mounting frame was requested as a special order from a Finnish glass factory that manufactures mirrors.

Mirror selection and preparation:

• The custom-made mirror was ordered from Lasitehdas.com , and an aluminum frame and a lead-through for wires were added. It is good to have some space in the back structure of the mirror to place the LED strip and controller.

LED strip and power supply design:

• The illuminated mirror required 235 cm of LED strip, which was installed 2.5 cm in from the edge of the mirror.


• According to calculations, the tape consumed 16W/meter, so a 50W transformer was chosen as the power source, which offers sufficient capacity and has a long service life.

Safe installation:

• Please remember that electrical installations should be done by a professional, especially in damp areas. Choose an LED strip and power supply with an adequate IP rating (at least IP44 for damp areas).

Mounting the LED strip:

• The tape was attached to the mirror frame using cable ties, making it easier to control the distance and installation.


• When placing the ribbon, pulling on the outer edge helps it lay flat and prevents wrinkles.

Connecting the controller and power supply:

• LED strip connections: +, CW (cool white) and WW (warm white).
• The controller was connected to a Zigbee system, which enables smart control. The controller can be used to easily adjust brightness and color temperature, for example, using a motion sensor or a mobile app.

Tidying up the wiring:

• The wires were hidden in cable channels attached with double-sided tape. This way, the installation of the mirror also looks professional from the back of the mirror.

Even distribution of light:

• The LED strip was placed approximately 2.5 cm from the edge of the mirror, which ensures even light and prevents shadows from forming.

Final installation and testing:

• The mirror was permanently mounted on the wall. In the test, the Zigbee control and light output were found to be excellent – ​​the illuminated mirror works perfectly both as a mood light and for precise work, such as applying makeup.

The result is a stylish and practical light mirror that integrates seamlessly with your Zigbee smart home system. The color temperature adjustment (2700K–6500K) makes it a versatile solution for all your lighting needs.
